I guess you wonder: "Where should I place the banner-ads ??"
It is ok to have ad`s on your page, but it is NOT OK to have a lot. Then your visitors
will not come back. Therefore, you should limit the number of banners on one page to just
two, one on the top and one further down on the page. Remember: it is the content of your
page the visitors is there to views. Try to have your content highly accessible, and try
to avoid "long pages" that needs to be scrolled. Your pages should be easy to
navigate, and also FAST. This is important to get surfers to revisit. If you have to many
banner on each page, the speed slows down.
Most advertisers would prefer to have their banners on the top of the page. That makes sense, since everybody starts reading at the top (obvious, right ?) The chance to have
people looking at the banners, AND to click on it, is therefore much higher if you have
the banner at the top. So, the advertisers get lucky, and so do you. You get higher
income.
If you have a content that needs to be scrolled, then you should have the banner in a
Frame. When the main page is scrolled, the banner will still show, and will stay on the
top of the page. Here is a way to use frames:
Don`t have any body-tag on that page, and no other content (only what goes into the head tag) that would have been in the body tag. This page will be "page1", and the page you link to. "page2" (frame name="a") would be the
banner-page, and "page3" (frame name="b") is where you put your
content. You can change the percentage to whatever you like, same is for frame name
="xx". FRAMEBORDER og FRAMESPACING ="0": this remove all borders
between the pages. Remember to put NORESIZE in the body tag on both pages, so the surfers can not change your settings.

It is important to have a banner that your visitors is interessted in. If you have a gamesite, then you should advertise other gamesites, Computergames, Quizzes and so on. This is the reason they came to your page, so why don`t give them what they want ? It is also important to rotate your banners. Dont show the same banner all the time. Change them ?? If you choose to use Commision Junction, they will give you a script to rotate all your banner you want to use from them. This is great. If you want to show banners from different providers, you must use your own banner-rotator script. There are many free script to use, that you will find on the net.
