Step 7 - Getting visitors
Before you launch your page :
- Before you add your page to all search engines, startpages and linksites, there are
certain things you should do first:
- Insert this on EVERY page: <TITLE>Description of your
page;/TITLE>. This is because almost all search-engines use this description when they put your page up on their list. Thist title tag should contain at least two keyword, that describe your page.
- Use META-TAGS !! This is an important tool to make people find your page. Here are some
tip on which you should use:

<META NAME ="keywords"
CONTENT="keyword,searchword,word,keywords,as,many,as,you, get">
Try to find as many keywords as possible. If you get stuck, you could search on a search engine for simular pages, and view the source for those on top 10. DON`T write the same keyword more than once, at least don`t put them after each other.It could be understand as spamming..
- <META NAME="robots"
CONTENT="index,follow"> This makes the robot follow ALL links on that page ! If you use this, you are certain that all underpages get`s indexed. If you wish that the robot only should index that page, just remove ,follow
- <meta NAME="robots" CONTENT="noindex"> This do the opposite; it stops the robot form indexing the page. Useful to avoid bannerwindows to get indexed. This and the above tag goes of course on different pages.
- <META NAME="revisit" CONTENT="15 days"> This force the robot to come back and re-indexing your page after 15 days. Excellent, if you update your page rapidly !

Place this between your <HEAD> og </HEAD> tags ! When you use frames,
this script is necessary. The meta-tag "index,follow will lead the robot to all your
pages, and will be put out on search-engines separately. When someone clicks on that link,
they will go directly to that page. This is nice, but if you have your ad`s in a
frame-window, the surfer will not see this ! So, when you use this script, the page will
check wheter it is in a frame or not. If not, the script will redirect the surfer to the
mainframe. Excellent, or what ??
- YOUR PAGE MUST BE FINISHED !! Don`t use "Under Construction`s" signs. Thats
the worst all surfer`s know: Coming to a page without contents. If the page isn`t
finished, you should at least make a text that describe what will be there, and you should
give the surfer possibility to register for an update-mail. But avoid it if you can.
- Make a "Privat Policy" page ! It is more common that affiliate-companies
demands you to have it. How you should make a good policy-page: I`m not sure, and I don`t
know what content it should have. Here Is a
page I got from one of my affiliates. You are free to use it.
- Usefull sites to visit about these subjects:
- Questfinder.net Lots of good stuff about search engines (and meta-tags) in their newsletter.
- Vancouver Webpages All you need to know about META-tags. Listed about all tags you can think of.
So, this was what you should do before you get visitors. Now, on to making people find your page !!
- 85 % of all search-results comes from Yahoo.com, AltaVista and Excite.
Obviously, you should get your page up there. This are important, but not all. You should of course get in on as many as you can, and your local searchengine is also important.
- Another growing marked is startpages. Internet business is growing fast, and you
get more and more Portals to start your search from. To get listed on these can
actually give you more hits than a search engine. I don`t know about your local
startpages, but here is a good link to start from:

This is because many links to your page shows that your page is popular !!!!!
